WHY

With a license process too, why is it so hard on your own?

In the Philippines you need a marriage license before the wedding, and the visa review looks closely at whether your relationship is genuine.
Get the order wrong once, and months can slip by while you request documents again.

Common worries

Are you worried about any of these?

I don't know which license we need to get married in the Philippines

How do I get my PSA documents, and where do I get the apostille?

My Korean spouse can't stay in the Philippines long because of work

I'm worried about what they'll ask at the embassy interview in Manila

Visa review

This is what immigration looks at

Whether the marriage is genuine, and whether you can live together stably in Korea.

Guidance program
Your Korean spouse, who invites you, must first complete the Korean Ministry of Justice's international marriage guidance program.
Income
Your Korean spouse's income must meet the standard. The amount changes every year.
Communication
You need basic Korean, or the two of you must be able to talk in a shared language such as English.
A home together
You need a home where you'll live together (owned, jeonse lease or monthly rent).
A genuine relationship
Shown through how you met, your messages and photos. If you apply at the Korean Embassy in Manila, there may be a couple interview.

Where Korean–Filipino couples most often get stuck

  1. 1
    Not enough relationship records

You've known each other only a short time, or have few messages or meetings on record

  2. 2
    Not PSA documents

You only submit locally issued copies, or they don't match the PSA copies

  3. 3
    Missing apostille

Documents were translated without a DFA apostille

  4. 4
    Weak proof of communication

Not enough evidence of a shared language or Korean ability

FAQ

Questions Korean–Filipino couples ask most

Korean marriage visa (F-6): how does it work, in short?

To live in Korea with your Korean spouse, you need a marriage visa (F-6). The steps are: ① register your marriage in both Korea and the Philippines ② get a Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) apostille on your Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) documents and translate them into Korean ③ apply for the visa after your Korean spouse completes the international marriage guidance program. K-VISA's fee starts at KRW 800,000 if you are in Korea and KRW 1,300,000 if you are in the Philippines, and we refund 100% of the fee if the visa is denied due to K-VISA's fault.

How much does the Korean marriage visa cost?

K-VISA's fee starts at KRW 800,000 for the in-Korea package if you are in Korea, and KRW 1,300,000 for the overseas package if you are in the Philippines (VAT excluded). Actual costs such as government fees, PSA documents, translation and apostilles are separate. Consultation and pre-check are free, and we refund 100% of the fee if the visa is denied due to K-VISA's fault.

How do I move to Korea to live with my Korean spouse?

After registering your marriage in both countries, your Korean spouse completes the international marriage guidance program and gets a Visa Issuance Confirmation in Korea, or you apply for the marriage visa (F-6) at the Korean Embassy in Manila. There may be an interview. Once the visa is issued, you enter Korea and complete alien registration.

What documents do I need for the Korean marriage visa?

Your Korean spouse needs a passport, basic, family relation and marriage relation certificates (detailed), a health certificate, the guidance program completion certificate, income and employment documents, and housing documents. You need a passport, PSA birth certificate, PSA CENOMAR or marriage certificate, and a health certificate. Philippine documents get a DFA apostille and are then translated into Korean. You both also submit a statement of how you met, plus photos and message records.

Should we register our marriage in Korea or the Philippines first?

Either works. If you are both in the Philippines, couples often start there. If you are in Korea, they often start in Korea. The better order depends on your situation, so we decide it with you in the free pre-check.

Do Philippine documents need consular authentication at the embassy?

No. The Philippines has used the apostille since 2019, so you get a DFA apostille on your PSA-issued documents and translate them.

How long does it take to marry in the Philippines?

After you apply for a marriage license, there is a 10-day posting period before the license is issued. Documents and timelines vary a little by locality, so we plan the schedule with you in the pre-check.

Do my documents really have to come from the PSA?

Yes. Official documents such as birth, CENOMAR and marriage records must be PSA-issued copies. Submitting only local copies, or copies that don't match the PSA version, often causes delays, so we check before you request them.

Is the international marriage guidance program required?

Yes, for your Korean spouse who is inviting you. Without the completion certificate the visa application can't move forward, so it's best to take it early.

How do we prepare for the interview at the Manila embassy?

We help you both prepare to explain how you met and how you communicate in the same way. We also organize your relationship records with you.

I barely speak Korean

You just need to show that the two of you can talk in a shared language such as English. We'll tell you which evidence to prepare.

What if immigration asks for more documents, or the visa is denied?

You complete the missing documents or requirements and apply again. And if the visa is denied due to K-VISA's fault, we refund 100% of the fee.
