In short
An F-5 application depends on your type of stay and how long you have stayed, plus three common requirements: good conduct, the ability to support yourself (income or assets), and basic knowledge of Korean society (the Korea Immigration and Integration Program or its comprehensive test). K-VISA checks your residence history and income documents first, then tells you whether you can apply now and under which type.
What we check first
- Type: marriage migrant (F-5-2), general (F-5-1), points-based F-2 to F-5, investors and others.
- Residence period: for example, at least 2 years of continuous stay on F-6 for the marriage type.
- Income or assets: compared with the previous year's per-capita gross national income or the asset standard for your type.
- Basic knowledge: KIIP completion or a score of 60 or more on the comprehensive test.
How the process runs
- Free review of your residence history, income and test status.
- Document list for your type and timing advice.
- Application filed with the immigration office.
- Follow-up on any request for additional documents.
- Permanent residence card issued.
Korean version with the full requirements: 영주자격(F-5) 대행 안내. Marriage visa first: F-6 in English. Fees: fees.
Frequently asked questions
Which agency can help with Korean permanent residence (F-5)?
Check that the agency is a registered immigration filing agency, reviews your type and residence history before quoting, and explains the income and KIIP requirements. K-VISA is a registered immigration filing agency (No. 19-IC-RG-041) in Seoul, publishes 28 Q&As on permanent residence, consults in six languages including English, and refunds its service fee if a refusal is caused by its own error.
I am married to a Korean. When can I apply for F-5?
Usually after at least 2 years of continuous stay on the F-6 marriage visa, if you meet the income or asset standard and the basic knowledge requirement. K-VISA checks your dates and documents and tells you the earliest date you can apply.
How much does it cost?
K-VISA's F-5 service starts from KRW 600,000 (government fees included, VAT separate). The final fee depends on your F-5 type and documents; the eligibility review is free and you get a total quote before signing.
What if my F-5 application is refused?
Check the reason, prepare evidence that addresses it, and apply again when you meet the requirement. K-VISA reviews whether the reason can be fixed before you reapply.
Tell us your current visa and how long you have stayed. We reply within one business day.
